Attacked Whisper words attacked, entered through the mind reaching the heart and spreading within leaving shivers of memories to wet one's lips, to drink in, quenching a thirst of the forgotten... as the shadows of night are swallowed by the early morning mist waiting the rising, one stands before the mirror viewing her twin. Softly caressing her thoughts desiring to feed upon her "yesterday's" needing to replay her "once was" wanting to touch upon the smiles that her eyes can see, trying to turn the corners of her soft lips upward... naked before the world, reflections of a tattered soul begin to replace the whole. What "once was" can never again "be". What "is" is her facade of safety... What "will be" will be... words to haunt, needing repeating and in that mirror, a tear trickles down. Her twin reaches out to capture, brings to her lips to share in the salt of the wounded. And in harmony, each smiles turns, and walks away... *Once in a ...Blue Moon...I feel this way *sorry |

This is such a beautiful poem... you have a wonderful sense of expression.. i love the 'would bes' and 'once was'.. we all think about the past and present, and its hard not to compare! Look forward to seeing more of your work! -Mel- -Wherever you go, go with all your heart.- |

MM a powerful poem, I can tell that the pain runs deep, thanks for sharing, excellently expressed. Take care, big hug. why must we pray screaming? why must not death be redefined? we shut our eyes we stretch out our arms and whirl on a pane of glass-patti smith |

Mel...thank you for your sweet comments, I am still rather new to poetry and have questioned why it took me so long to enjoy it..guess it took a turn in my life to bring it out in me. Rex ...thanks for the "amazing", I always hope to touch someone with my words..as they so often do to me. brian ...yes, I am a terribly oversensitive individual who feels deeper than most...sometimes it's a hindrance others wonderful. ~~hugs to you all Maureen |
