REST AGAIN EAGLE ... golden eagle's symbolic flight aloft a pole of whitest white with perched wings spread so wide as a golden ball provides the ride posing under eternity's spell and through summer's hottest hell through icy winter's deepest cold your lonely pole's left to hold like ominous shadows on cityscape once brilliant shine wears dull's cape years between visits of needed relief patina's drab is beyond belief rescue to commence (and not too soon) your little wish upon the moon so up the pole with paint and brush refreshing strokes felt in a rush this time was better than the rest an old man putting time to the test no hurry was he to finish the job rest again eagle, back on your knob M.A. Miller 07.19.00 (Inspired by Norman Rockwell's "Man Painting Flagpole") < !signature--> My calling before me, let quill be my offering; For to be called poet, no greater gift to receive. Wonderful... I liked the nice originality in the poem and the subject, a falcon/an eagle always inspires me to try and fly higher (read as - in flights of thoughts).... great work MA Miller... I have now got used to seeing great pieces of work from you... I am sure you will keep it flowing... regards, sudhir |

Mark-This one really hits deeper than you might have intended. I am ex-military and also grew up in the military and that eagle you speak of means the world to me. There is one in my front yard and always will be. Your poem is as beautiful and the Rockwell print you posted with. |

Thanks to all above ... this was kinda' whimsical at first, but like you Mark B., i am ex-military and is probably the reason for my initial impressions of this Rockwell work ... thanks for the connection ... |
