Shift Change The routine is the same waking to the body’s addiction for caffeine, I abide by its wishes never thinking twice, tapping nails on the counter in restless wait for the last bit of magic elixir to fall in to the pot. Making my way through last nights rubble to my special chair out on the porch were to me is the only place to begin the day. It is still some what dark and sometimes I wonder if I am the only soul awake. From my vantage point on the side of a mountain I can see a valley so grain and the mountain range that encircles it. The air still with much chill hits my flesh enticing me to take that first sip of brew that only I can make to my liking. It is now in that space of time between dark and light. The sun not yet to be seen, flocks of birds of many kind make their way up from the south in masses to my small but awesome piece of paradise to begin their daily routine of survival. I look about to nature to see if the picturesque view has changed in any way and biding her good fortune for the beauty she so freely bestows upon my heart. The tranquil silence is slowly being invaded by the presence of man and machine, but here nature reins, and hopefully will never have to give up her hold on this small but peaceful and serene peace of paradise. Thoughts now pour into my head as to what this day will bring my way, deciding what is important and what can be put in to that part of the brain for remembrance or forgetting it exists. As for me the morning theater I do so enjoy has come to its end and my day now beckons me weather or not I am willing, but I always know that tomorrow will grant me my elixir and the beauty of **** change again. Cerenity, I see we have the same morning ritual, "The routine is the same waking to the body’s addiction for caffeine," my upper is almost black tea. Anyway enough ranting, a truely beautiful poem very serene and tranquil. Shift change, hhmmm, yes it is the time of year for this. Yes country life is wonderful. Anyway an excellent poem, the images flowed so effortless from the screen. why must we pray screaming? why must not death be redefined? we shut our eyes we stretch out our arms and whirl on a pane of glass-patti smith |

Miss. Butterfly, I remember being the only one ever up at that time and I hated it because I was wanting to go out side and my mom would not let me. I had every four leged hoofed animal you could think of and of course my horse was my dream, I guess you could say I love nature ha, thank you so much for your kind words. Brian, Hi my friend hope life is good for you, black tea I might try that. You know it is so funny some times to me because I live in the MIDDLE of a pretty good size CITY, and all my life we had to drive around this mountain to get to the other side of the city but not until I met my husband did I ever come up this mountain, his mom lives up here and we bought the house next door. My veiw is to the east and south mostly and so there are not alot of people on this side. But as for what I say in my poems there pretty much true, well and when my heart sings I dance, it is very beautiful up here and very privit to. Thank you so much for your lovely replys. Mmm... the chill in the air, the steam from the cup, what an image! I love mornings in paradise too. I liked the reminder that there is a moment where it ends for another day. You have to be there to see the beauty, as it is only for a blink in time. Just beautiful, Cerenity. |
