Lessons Never Learned |

I think about mistakes I’ve made, And bridges that I’ve burned… My restless life and reckless trade- Lessons I have not learned. I think about the yesterdays- That used to stretch before… What was the future, now’s the past I see that more and more. I think about the plans I made- The things which I would do… Somehow it seems they all included- Me, being with you. But you are gone, now I’m alone- How often I have yearned… For dreams which never did come true, And lessons never learned. Those lessons always haunt you- And rob you of your sleep… They tend to age your countenance, And cause your eyes to weep. So listen to me youngster, now- Before your chance is spurned… And shape your life with choices, wise- Not lessons never learned. Wise advice, John. I'm sure we all have those regrets if we live long enough and haven't listened to the counsel of our elders. There are a few things I wish I'd have listened to when I was younger. Quite a few. This is writing from the heart. Well done! Denise |

I always admire how you expres such poetic advisement in your work. This is superb. Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |
