To Nancy Keenly aware of memories - watching them form clinging to the echoes of our children’s voices as we both recall July was always about barbecues at your house we ate with the bees, your famous potato salad, my fabulous Caesar, symbols of then. You asked if I would return if money were no object, but I can’t imagine that. Here I’ve landed, so foreign to you my form of survival. Someday maybe we’ll have that big old house by the sea in Mendocino. Someday. © 2000 Corinne Bailey |

This is lovely, Corinne! A touch of nostalgia mixed with wistful hopes for the future! Say, if you ever get that big house, can I move in with you all? Denise |

Corinne.... A tribute to friendship, and well done also! The part that caught my eye was the ending about the big old house in Mendecino! I've only been there once, but swore I would live there someday....it must be a safe haven for poets and artists! This poem was lovely....... ~~~~~Live for Today~~~~~ taste every single moment |

There are places inside our hearts - that need to be loved this much. ~jm~ |

Great example of the bond of true friendship. So many times the things that affect our friends affect us so deeply. I caught these words right between the eyes.. "here I've landed, so foreign to you my form of survival." Going back's not as easy as saying the words. Great poem!! |

Corinne~ What a treat is this look at friendship. Bonding - bending - weaving - through the years. Delightful, hon. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

Thanks, Denise, and sure, come on along! We plan to open a bed and breakfast one day, anyway! Thanks, Sunny1 - just love Mendocino, too! JM, thank you! Thanks, Ethome, yes, she doesn't quite see that I've gone forward and can't go back now. Marge, thank you. It's one of those life-longers. A couple of weeks ago our paths crossed in a restaurant of a hotel in the middle of nowhere in central California, she was on her way to Los Angeles and I was on my way back from San Diego. Couldn't believe THAT coincidence! Take care, Corinne |

Corinne, this is a lovely tribute indeed, written in your impeccable style... just too lovely to be described in mere words... regards to you, sudhir |

To have friends that leave an indelible mark, indifferent to time's passage, is truly beautiful. As is this poem. Great stuff, Corinne! |

Lovely, Corinne, and poignant. I'm sure Nancy will hold this to her heart, and post it in the bed and breakfast. I can't wait to taste the potato salad. Rick |
