Arrayed in white, she's standing there.
She's waiting for her love to come.
The vows were set for ten o'clock
and it is now a half past one.

All of the guests have gone away.
She told the pianist to go.
Still she stands with her bouquet
knowing not what keeps him so.

The church is quiet as she waits.
At the alter, she stands alone.
Sadness starts to cloud the eyes
where once the light of love had shone.

She does not know where he could be.
What could make the groom so late?
He should arrive at any time
so she shall simply stand and wait.

Arrayed in white, she's standing there.
She's waiting for her love to come.
The vows were set for ten o'clock
and it is now a half past one.

Oh my!  I sincerely hope that this is not a true life experience... I cannot even imagine the pain of such.  Beautifully written and expressed.

TennesseeAngel~
You bring the tissues ?
Makes me all misty-eyed.
I'm saddened to think
that it has happened to someone.

I hope you'll enjoy my reply ...
will post shortly -
entitled 'Left At The Church'.

What a beautiful poem on such a dreadful topic.  You conveyed the scene perfectly.
The lump is still in my throat.

Mark --  You are such a sweet man!  It is not true to life...at least not my life.  I am certain it would be a horrid experience.

Marge --  Well, what can I say my poetic pal!  Once again your responding poem outshines the one which inspired it.  I have come to cherish your responses to my work.

Trew --  Thank you so much for your kind response!  I think it's a powerful thing when a poet can convey such emotion to the reader.

Balladeer --  Happen to me??  No, my 'deer, one look into these baby blues and a man could never willingly walk away.
