He's there right now
hovering
fearful I might breathe
a breath
without his essence--
so I write
without his bless.
I'm chain-smoking
cigarettes
he backs away repulsed--
as if I held a shining cross,
expelling forces of the dark.
"You really think you're
doing something, don't you?"
(mocking mocking lurking)
I type and I type
he paces and mutters
tension building
until
he grabs my chair
spinning me to attention
commanding in demand:
"If I died tonight,
what would you do?"
And in a cloud
of icy smoke
I meet his eye,
surprised how steady
my voice replies:
"Buy new shoes."

He went to bed confused.

ROFLMAO!!!

Ok, I know it isn't necessarily funny to most people, but I really dig this kind of dark humor. I hug you for your troubles, laugh with you for your sense of humor and smile at your poetic grace.

A very intense poem, remind me never to make you angry. The last part really stung. excellent poem.

"Buying shoes, wish you were here. . . "

Excellent serenity!!!  I really liked this one. . . had me on my seat until the end. . . what a line!!!  May have to use that one myself someday. . .

Only you could blend all the elements of this poem together. . . just superb. . .

Serenity*
This was........my life!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY
But you CAN tell the tale can't you...now if
I wasn't writing and "there for him"....he'd
have to ignore me so this way I save him the
trouble!!!  And J.M. I am almost positive the
vows included the remote......goodness knows
"she" listens better than I  would...lol
Love it Serenity....there is always comfort
in understanding~

Thanks to the guys, Sveetie Sven, as always,
Rex Allen, I appreciate your reading very much, brian madden, don't worry, don't think that you could get me mad...

and "butterflies"--thanks.  I was really surprised at the reactions this got.  Altho
I can't say it made me happy that others could relate, I do feel a little less "alone"

so thanks to all again...

ROFL - you're poetry is one of a kind, serenity...  You gave me a much needed smile this morning with this one - though I sensed some tumultuous emotion behind it as well.  ((HUGS)) to you.
