Excuse me as I wile away the day;
The sky is blue and blooms are on display;
Sweet fragrance beckons me to linger near
Midst present circumstances while they’re here.

Tomorrow may bring with it clouds of gray;
Torrential rains that threaten long to stay;
A dismal gloominess that births despair
That leaves me longing for a day this fair.

Today the sun is shining on my way
And balmy breezes cause the leaves to sway
In rhythmic harmony the birds all sing
In jubilation that befits the King.

So pardon me, I don’t mean to convey
That I’m aloof; please do not go away;
Recline with me beneath this azure sky
Midst present circumstances, you and I.

"And balmy breezes cause the leaves to sway"

I could hear the leaves swaying and mingling, almost as if to make love

Nicely written piece Denise

Thank you so much, Sea, Corazon (I submitted the two poems that I wrote for my two grandchildren, I don't want to dilute my 'automatic' votes by submitting more than these. It would thrill me to tears if I actually got those two in the book, but thanks for that *incredulous look*!), Kit, Seymour(come spend the day with me in Rittenhouse Square Park, you'd love it!), Sudhir, Corinne (thanks, I'm glad you like my pic too!) and Mark for reading and for such lovely replies!

We have been blessed with some fantastic weather here this past week and still going strong! Quite unusual for July in Philly. Crisp clean air, low humidity, those white puffy clouds against a beautiful blue sky...just perfect!
