Fireworks On this day of celebration I lie awake, listening To sounds of predawn, stirring of waking children, magpies arguing with scrub jays, scent of fire singes the air, I imagine cooks in kitchens, soon the tang of searing meat will meld with laughter, later music will harmonically blend with starbursts in the nighttime sky, all the while I’ll be loving you. © 2000 Corinne Bailey |

Such poignant images and imaginings, Corinne. Your endline reminds me of the song...I'll be loving you, always, always... ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

wow..corinne a unique look at the 4th of July. Beautiful poem, wonderful. A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral. Antoine de Saint-Exupéry |

what a wonderful celebration! Again, you are my muse. Gifts of Light Loving you in the pre-dawn as I stir from dreams, readying myself and Shirley for a ride on rain-soaked roads. Robins and a phoebe coax cloud-filtered light into the day. Twenty miles later, the farmers' market, dressed for breakfast, calls to the riders with tendrils of griddle cakes, sausage and coffee. Torrents of rain dictate two rounds of cakes and jo - dance and sing of memories yet to flower: this day, this night bursting with stars and Sousa, years of loving days, so many days of celebration. © RAM 7/6/00 |

Great, I loved this poem, although I am English and we obviously don't celabrate the 4th, we do have Bonfire night on the 5th of November which we have loads of fireworks, (I see the other side of the title as well, very clever with the feeling between two people, am i write as that was the true meaning behind the poem and the link between the way you expressed it ?) My favourites are the really big ones that go miles up, expload and the sparkle like stars . Only problem is I always get depressed as everyone on earth seems to have somone to share the feeling with except me . Ah well . Loved the poem . Intelligently written . L.of.L. Tom . Don't try, do or do not, there is no try . - Master Yoda - |
