Im down here in my basement
trying not to care.
Im occupying myself,
trying not to make myself aware.

Aware of the frustration
of people bickering back and forth,
wishing it would go away,
for everything it's worth.

They argue over everything,
mostly stupid stuff.
I guess i should be thankful,
that their quarrels don't get too rough.

But God, it's so annoying
to hear them scream and shout.
To hear the same tired voices,
throughin the house, and throughout.

Sometimes i go to check on them,
to see that things are on track.
They blame each other for stupid things,
both of them i wish to smack.

Sometimes even parents can be dumb,
with their arguin', and bick'rin'
then going around, telling us,
"Stop arguin' like little children"

So i go down to my baesment,
to look for peace, and quiet.
to try to drown the sound
of the forthcoming two-person riot.

And that is my poem,
so you all are aware,
of why i'm in my basement...
trying not to care.

I really liked the poem A LOT!! It has a great rhyme to it and.. it's just all around great. I can't really say how much I like it, but know I do, and.. I can relate, as many people can. Hang in there!

Very nicely written! I enjoyed the rhyme and the flow Driven! I'm sorry you need to find a place to go where you can get away from the bickering. I hope you are able to discuss this with your parents if it becomes very frustrating for you. You have many here, who I'm sure can relate. Take care ... and keep up the writing, you have a wonderful talent here!

This is a wonderfully-written poem. It really hit home with me, my parents often fight over "stupid stuff". I hope that writing this helped the pain.
