One evening you went out
You took your sisters
Along for the ride
Your boyfriend and theirs were there too
Something terrible happened
You lost your life
Your sister, best friend
Your family
All at the age of 16
We sit here and wonder if its true
Your really gone
But here in our hearts
We love you here
We wonder why it happened
Due to a destructive decision
Your memories are in a garden at our school
And memories to remind us of you
We miss you
Rest in Peace

Due to a destructive decision I lost a friend.  R.I.P. Amber Lynn Duncan   1982-1999

This poem, was a poem that I thought I would never have the courage to write.  When she died I was devastated.  I didn't know what to say especially when she has a twin.  I just hope that everything gets better.

How tragic. I'm sorry you had to experience your friend's death. It's happened to me, and it hurts a lot. I hope that her death could at least stop other destructive decisions from being made in the future.

Chel, You did a great job, and I think Amber would be proud of this tribute. Some of the decisions we make we don't realize have such dire consequences. I hope Amber notices how much she's missed, where ever she may be.

This is a wonderful poem Chel. It's also a way to come to terms with her death.

One of my friends was killed in a car accident about three months ago, she would have turned 16 on the last day of this month.

I also wrote a poem, Goodbye Jessica, and I read it on her funeral, and to alotta people there it meant alot.

I must add, I sometimes think of her, and it feels asif she only went on a long trip, and will be coming back soon.

Wonderful poem.

Waves...amazing hey? Wind blowing over smoothe ocean water creates shear. The longer the wind blows, and the futher the fetch, the more energy gets transferred from the wind to the water. What started off as a breeze 1 000km away, ends up as a glass-faced barrel at some far off beach.

I know whole heartedly that Amber would have been proud to read something like this...it's just sad that this had to be written.  Although it was tough, you pulled it off very nicely.

This is a wonderful tribute to Amber, Chel. I've written many poems after the loss of very dear friends and family members, and find it helps so much to write them in tribute to them ... to treasure always. Very well done.

Best wishes and prayers to you and her family,
/Kit
