(don't you just love going into your old writing and finding something from when you were ten years of age? I wrote this at about that age. Not bad, i think. ^_^ Byt the way, it's open for interperetation, but you will probably never guess what it really is about. Hint-- i was only ten.) The Lions The lions are waiting to pounce on me with each second i hide they grow stronger i know i am safe in the warmth of my shell but can i hold out any longer? Down, down, down they come inching, yet nearer and nearer I know that she seeks to shatter my soul but what might compel me to fear her? The laughter, it echoes in the halls of beyond it causes my blood to run thin They laugh, as they wish to crack open my shell and feed on the softness within And here i am, shaking, contemplating the lions my fear and my anger are great The mistakes of my life have left me no options and all I've left to do is wait [This message has been edited by Allan Riverwood (edited 01-08-2001).] |

This is certainly good for ten. Well done. Glad you shared it. First verse I thought this is about your parents, Second verse I started thinking maybe about hide n go seek, but as I read on I pictured this being about your parents or some type of authority from I younger days (teacher, principal, etc.). Then I just read it over again and I am more convinced this is about a school authority than your parents. But I really don't know. I look forward to finding out Godd one, Jason "Every body has their destiny... I'LL CHOOSE MY OWN ~Hatebreed~ |

Yeah I agree. I think it's about some authority figure that was in your life who was treating you bad. Great job for being 10. That's awesome that you started so young. Jon "Your anger is a gift"-Rage Against The Machine |

Thanks for the replies. The poem was actually written about the times in my childhood when my folks would have company over, and i would hide in my bedroom from them, terrified that they would come for an encounter with me, and I would have to play the "good son" for the company. The lions were the people, and my parents (namely my mother) who lurked just outside of my bedroom... truly inflicting terror on me. This is how I spent my childhood, fearing these encounters, because I would always fail my parents and either be very rude somehow, or embarass them. The terror was of the consequence that would come of my failure to impress the company. I don't know where you get the school thing from. School was a refuge for me at the age of ten. Thanks for the praise, all. Try to dig up a few early poems sometime and share, it's fun! |

ahhh... I knew I was wrong. Thanx for the explination. It was until the secound read until I really though this was about school. "The laughter, it echoes in the halls of beyond" The above lines I think are what gave me that impression.. you know the halls of school.. how kid's laughter echos through out them. Anyhow, I know what you saying what your saying here. Again good job "Every body has their destiny... I'LL CHOOSE MY OWN ~Hatebreed~ |

I'm glad I'm a little late on this one so I already know the explination ![]() "Disagreements stimulate thought, thought stimulates action, and action stimulates life." --Lakewalker http://www.thehungersite.com |
