I got settled and I’ve turned my cheek Last time you hurt me I could not speak Lies and love are like oil and water You tried to mix them and I became love’s martyr You want me to be complacent and look the other way Allowing you to move on and me to fade away So I held onto my pride and my dignity Said goodbye for now, until you’re ready for me I met someone and got involved You met him and your world dissolved Traded all your friends for this one guy Look back, no one’s there, you wonder why You want to fix it before you lose it all You realize that without friends, you will fall Try to sneak back into my life like I won’t even miss it Cause you know what you’ve done, but you don’t know how to fix it I’m not ready to let you back in When nothing’s changed, no one can win I still love you, and I know you do me But I don’t miss the pain, I miss what we used to be That feeling made me invincible, got me high Things changed, you hurt me, and I wanted to die You crushed my heart and killed my trust I’m not ready for round 2, can’t let there be us In time it’ll come and we’ll be alright Cause the fire’s still burning, just not as bright But you don’t know where to begin, so I won’t let you start Cause I know I’m not ready to let you back in my heart |

Jon- excellent job of expressing some very difficult and painful emotions. sometimes it does take awhile to trust again in the people who have hurt us deeply...even when we believe they are sorry. I wonder why people haven't replied to this yet? It's very good. I'm sorry you were in such a tough relationship, we've all had them. Keoni~ You expressed yourself so well. You let all the pain out. I am glad to hear that you wont let her back in your heart. Its hard when you lose someone you care about that turned their back on you. Its not worth going back to cuz she did it to you once. And she just may break your heart again if you let her back in. Thanks for sharing this piece. Keep up the good work!!! People leave our lives as quickly as they come, but the ones that mean something leave footprints in our hearts. |
