A man sat alone on his front stoop, shouting at the world. " What be ye to me? I am old as the oak tree there on yon hill, I've seen a thousand seasons come and go,yet ye will not let me have me peace" The world answered not. " What be ye to me? I've loved and lost, hungered and made merry, longed and felt satisfied. Yet still ye will not let me have me peace." The world answered not. The wind howled And the grass quivered in it's wake The old man sat and shouted " What be ye to me? I've fathered and been fathered to, been poor and wealthy, cried a river of tears and laughed as a hyena. Full of blessing and filled with hate, yet still ye will not let me have me peace." The world answered not. The old man stood, with the help of his cane And hobbled across his stoop And as the sun sank low in the sky He crept to bed, whispering " What be ye to me? I've tasted all your virtues, all your vices. I've crawled on all fours, walked on both legs. I've lived long and wish me time were come." And the world answered softly. " I was all these things to you. The oak tree, the love, the father, the river of tears, your hands and feet. Come now, old man, rest." And the old man closed his eyes. And as his breath left him in a final sigh He smiled as the sun sank below the horizon The world had indeed been a kind friend And at last, the old man had his peace Thomas A. Thanks guys( and Gals ). Glad you liked it so much. As I grow older things seem to look different than each day before. At the end of my life, when the time comes. I hope to find the peace I seek quickly and expediantly. See you soon. Thomas A. No peace shall I find in this world of hate, greed, and destruction. For thereafter is everything made anew and I shall have complete rest. This was excellent Tom, but you know me. I'll never find peace in the land of the living. For death, where is thy sting? And as for the grave, where is thy victory? jason ![]() I'm not concieted...I'm convinced.
