Deeply do I feel this aloneness Bewildered by the cause Questions unasked Liars unmasked I want to speak but I pause Rigid is my conviction That I will leave this place Dead is my soul It’s under control As is the blankness on my face Crowds around me laughing As I stand upon the edge Despair, my friend, Love, at the end Not living up to your pledge Quietly I slip away You even won’t know I’m gone Will you remember that I was here all along? The door closes I cry one last time And thus end’s this poet’s Very last rhyme. |

I would remember! And know my friend, I am always laughing with you, never, never at you! Sharon, as always, you are able to emit your emotion flawlessly through your words. |

Sharon, at times I have understood well the speaker's seclusion and isolation, alone in a crowd as it were. But for some reason, all I could visualize was a Mime. I think I need more coffee..... Alicat |

Beautifully written as are most all of yours. Perhaps not the intention of the poem, but it speaks to me of self-denial Jamie Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito. - Virgil. "Yield thou not to adversity, but press on the more bravely". |

An excellent poem. So sad. *sniff* In the end, in a way, I guess, we are all alone, for who can see within our soul? Lotharingia "For God's sake, he's a poet. Poets are meant to feel miserable. Otherwise, what the hell are they here for? What are they going to write about?" Tom Holland |

PdV...such lonliness, such desolation, such anger from betrayal...great imagery here. Loved it. And I hope it's not your last rhyme...you need to be here with us for a long, long time. Hardrock |

Gosh, Sharon, everyone beat me to it, on comments. "Deeply do I feel this aloneness, bewildered by the cause" First line grabbed me and held on. Hope you are not as sad as this sounds. You are a phenomenal writer. You can't stop! "If a man moves you to feel like a woman, the least you can do is let him." Merrit Malloy |

Rigid is my conviction [to write] That I will leave this place [for peace] Dead is my soul [to the laughter] It’s under control [of my mind] As is the blankness on my face [but I shall smile again] Ah PdV, what thoughts you give me! Well done... Sunny ~~~Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see the shadow. Helen Keller ~~~ When you want to be loved, look within...KRJ |

This strikes home for me. What is it about poets and isolation? Are we writers because we're isolated? Or are we isolated because we're writers? You've captured such a universal truth here; thank you. www.fvpf.org |

This is so beautiful, I read it aloud. How often do we touch someone's life, give totally and wonder what happens when they leave and the door closes. Oh, how this touches me, it brings tears to my eyes because it is so true. They take part of us with them and carry it forever. It hurts doesn't it? God bless you for writing such a lovely poem.
