I was glad i was to be your little girl
We would have had so much fun
playing Barbie dolls and sewing dresses
But you frowned deeply
when you saw the colours change
Why, mummy, why didn't you welcome me?

I was looking forward to meeting Dad
A tall strong kindly figure he would be,
bringing me to the zoo and teaching me baseball
But you sobbed as you confided in Granny
that Daddy was irresponsible and had abandoned us
What, mummy, does "irresponsible" and "abandoned" mean?

I kicked you playfully the other day
Giggling, i squealed in delight
I thought we would have a nice game of touch-a-boo
But you yelled loudly
and your hands pounded heavily on my delicate body
Why, mummy, why did you play so rough?

I was bubbling in excitement
I was growing bigger by the day
Soon, I would be able to see your lovely face
But you put enormous tapes, hurting me so
So that your bulge wouldn't show
Why, mummy, why weren't you proud of me?

I see white angels before me
I wriggle my little fingers, delighted
that you have asked them to play with me
But they all look so stern and fierce
Now,they are even cutting me up with sharp knives
Why, mummy, why do you put me through such pain?

I hear your heart-wrenching sniffles
I hear Granny trying to cajole you to "eat a little"
I long to go over and comfort you
But everything seems so dark around here
I struggle to crawl towards you, however i trip and fall
Why, mummy, why have things turned out to be so dismal?

Kaile,

This is a very moving poem. A very original perspective, too. I like the way the unborn baby feels only love and no bitterness, not yet damaged by the complexity of life and society, and also the way you hint at the mother’s despair.

Kaile...The poem speaks for itself.  I have no words to add.  I used to be pro-choice until God touched my heart some years ago.  Nicely put, Kaile.  Hardrock

...

Sad... sigh. Almost made me cry here at work. I feel the pain, the confusion of this child... I, umm... what does one say. There is a power here that can't be denied... you've touched me.

that is such a moving poem, beautifully written, and so woefully sad. It brought tears to my eyes... and visions also. Thank you for sharing your words with us.

Wow...I am speechless and on the verge of tears.  You took a new angle than I have not seen before: the view from the little unborn child.  Such a controversial topic expressed so influentially...maybe people will take a moment after they read this to think about the reality of abortion and the preciousness of the little life people too often take away. Thank you for sharing this work.

Heavens, no one reading this could help but be moved.  It is a sensitive foetus version of life and/or abortion.  Brought tears to this mothers eyes...  Superb hon really superb...

WOW my friend a great piece. so deep with thought and meaning makes one think of the rights and wrongs in this world. i for one don't believe in killing an unborn child. i told an Ex a while back if anything happened i would make sure she had the baby even if she did not want it and drop her because of wanting to kill a living thing.

I'm a dying romantic and when i can no longer write i can no longer live -Jeremiah Johnson-

sick, sad and true. Every Year since 1973 1 Million little girls and boys cry out in silence and in dark pain they are ripped from the warm wombs of cold modern women.

To be sent to their formeldahyde or garbage can hell.

1 Million last year,
1 Million this year,
1 Million next year.
1 Million forever and ever.

The Real Holocaust.

Kaile, it sounds lame now, coz this poem was posted quite some time back, but I really like this one... a lot!!!

The way you tried to show us the innocence of that child, not knowing the meaning of irresponsible, wanting to play hide and seek inside her mom's tummy, and not understanding that the angels she see are actually doctors... This is such a moving piece!!!
