We taunt the new boy
We mock him, trip him
Label him names

A bowed statue,
He avoids our stares always
He speaks no words at all

We get furious
Why, that arrogant fool!
How dare he keep quiet and ignore us?

Little do we know that
"The Limper" is a mute and
Words fail him so

Sounds like the past coming back to haunt.
We all seem to have a past of some kind like this.
And this brings it to mind.

Joel.

I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel.

Wow!
The past certainly can come back to haunt us.
This reminded me of many blunders I made while stumbling through my youth.
Good work

thanx Joel,Jeremiah and notlikely2 for replying...no, i didnt consciously write this with the intent of expressing those days when i was being teased and taunted but i guess this piece is a sub-conscious reflection of my days back then..thanx for your insight

This is really excellent. What I particularly like is the way it can be taken both literally and symbolically. A great piece!! I hope to see more of you here!

Little do we know that
"The Limper" is a mute and
Words fail him so

a powerful poem, I can relate to the bullying aspect of it. We often make judgements without thinking.

Sometimes life sucks immensely... children tease far too often. People should be kinder to others. This poem kind of reminds me of junior high school... everyone picked on everybody els...

Kaile...this was my school experience.  You captured perfectly how it was.  But...we perservered.  Little did I suspect that it was just preparation for what comes later in life.  Hardrock

I loved this poem! It reflected the pain that all children have when they are teased....I really enjoyed the unique ending!

Kaile, since I don't think you're neither "The Limper" nor a mute, care to tell who you and your friends were bullying?
