Left Behind Seems like I'm always left behind Wondering where things went And the dreams I hold dear Have long since been spent The days drag on and on Without a hope of end And when I really need to talk I'm lacking a true friend The nights seem cold and barren The stars all lack luster And even a hint of a smile Is more than I can muster The weeks blend into months The months into years And I'm left not living Alive consumed with fears Just when I think I'll succeed When I've made up my mind The doubt that envelops me Pushes me back behind How can one live for the future When they're trapped in the past It does no good to dream Dreams never last When you reach out for help It's like no one ever hears And you're left drowning In your own pool of tears Left wondering what to do Why is life so unkind? Once again I'm left All alone far behind Shan 7-9-00 |

Shan, you have captured here the very essence of loneliness and the feelings of being "disconnected". Your line, "And when I need to talk, I'm lacking a true friend" is only half true....I'm here for you. Hardrock. |

Sounds like you and I have lived the very same kind of lives. Let me offer you a spark of encouragement; it does get better. Perhaps this is a poem from your past as many of mine are, or perhpas this is something you are going through. In either case, take heart, it does get better. Please know, it can only get so lonely before it gets better with friends and love and laughter. Such a well written poem, I hope to read more soon. Thanks Hardrock, catalinamoon, Musicmaker... Just had one of those weeks where everything seemed to go wrong ...flyin through life n forgot to look out for tree limbs lol but writing about it helps me deal with it and I'm feelin better already  |

I sure know that place where the lonelines is so profound that everything else seems a blur, Im glad you were able to express your feelings and Im here for you too!! Nostalgia is like a grammar lesson...You find the present tense..and the past perfect "Anonymous" |
