There is a place
where I would go to often
and sit in ethereal silence
'neath a canopy of mandarin stars
and wind my music box
for hours
to watch the tiny ballet dancer dressed in a laced sheath of topaz satin
gracefully swirl on tiptoe in classic elegance
restoring peace,
yet now
the painted sky above her is broken
things will never be the same again
as it strums away the memories
the music box winds down to an end
a handful of dreams sitting wistful...unplayed
blanketed with dust
rusted by tears
passed over by days
she remains encased
by tarnished porcelain
cracked...
yearning to be free
to dance once more
and chance the air,
no longer beautiful
it sings not a tune
sorrow has faded the melody that once
lived within

Melissa,
I'm so glad you're writing again and back at Passions. I could relate to this poem.

thought-provoking, emotion-evoking words you speak here...extremely well done.

Just follow your own way
Don't give up and use the chance

Wonderful!
We all are that music box ballerina at some point in our lives.  All we can to is dance on, tirelessly, until we can dance no more.  Wonderfully written.

Thank you for exquisite lyrical words.  This is a treasure.
