I sit outside this December night The cold air stinging my face I close my eyes trying to capture The memories of warmer days When I think of those summer nights And the days that quickly passed I think of our marvelous journey And how hard we tried to make it last Remember our first date? The boat, the walk and the sunburn Remember how I made you kiss me That was one of my concerns… But you easily passed the test It wrote the first page of our romance Remember that night in the park? That was our one and only moondance The Fourth of July was perfect We laid in the grass by the tree Watching all the magic in the sky Feeling it in our hearts silently Remember all those late nights? You couldn’t leave my porch We must have said goodbye a million times But we could never let go of the torch Remember how we just had each other Like best friends we’d talk all night We would tell each other everything And we had each other to hold tight Weekends were always easy back then We’d hang out and do whatever It didn't matter where we went… It was cool 'cause we were together I know we must have fought, Something happened to make it all end I must have forgotten about those times Or at least that’s what I like to pretend Well, I have to get back inside now It’s getting colder out here it seems I’m gonna go curl up in bed now… And try to stay warm with you in my dreams. "I mean that loving you is strange and adored by me throughout..oh no it's you again, blessing you with every kiss..." |

It's refreshing to see that I'm not the only one that winter has a chilling, depressing grip on. I hate it too, and frquently think of the summers throughout my teen years when it gets like this. It seems like so many things ended up being lost in the end, but I try to remember the memories and experiences I gained on those muggy, starry, summer nights. This was great work here...and re reading this I realize I made myself seem pretty old..hell I'm only 29...I can't wait to pop in and read more!!! Beth, it is strange how memories can keep us warm especially in these winter months, a wonderfully written piece. I have to agree it is a very cold winter, but I have some warm thoughts to warm up in. LOL @ sandra... I have some vague memories of being young...but funny thing, the only time I feel old now? Is when there's too much gravity about! (not to mention the pain...ow.) Seriously beth? I liked this. I loved the view through your eyes...a sweet and gentle reminder of appreciation of the good times. |

Very well written poem. The story I am sure is common to many, but you have a great outlook towards the past. Even though things may be a little chilly, kindling up a little warm memories help circulate the blood. Bless you, may you have a wonderful Christmas. |
