The silence fills my ears with imagined sounds Of a long ago voice of a fragile love Tis only I that hears the softly spoken words Like a tranquil melody of a cooing dove Softly whispered on my attentive ears Words flow sweetly on a heart eager to claim That his love is still new as that first kiss Instilled in my heart like a comforting flame Though stubborn of mind it does not see The fire slowly ebbing on a heart growing colder Smothered by words it no longer hears Memories fade and time grows older Left with only silence to fill the void The silence of words no longer spoken Echoing off the vast emptiness inside The eerie quiet of a heart now broken [This message has been edited by Suzanne Arlene (edited 11-25-2000).] |

I liked this one, especially taken by the last verse. Great! "The heart and soul have no illusion of boundries when friendship is the quest" ~ My Angel. |

Geeze, Louise, Suzanne....What a poem!! I'll bet there are many out there who hear those same sounds of silence. This one makes my heart ache...I wish I could wrap my arms around you and all the rest and tell you that it's gonna get better....someday. Hardrock |

Suzanne, As ironic as "words" of silence seem, it's amazing how they speak volumes, isn't it? I thought you expressed this very well! Great write! Sheila |
