She sits on a chair
staring out her window

tears filling her eyes
and falling across her cheek

that has turned pale
with fear

as she drops the
letter from her hand

that says her love
is lost and never coming back

Oh, how sad    A terrible thing to go through.  Take care.

This is one of those poems that makes one hope that we never have a big war again.  World wars, and war in general, are horrible things.  Let's pray that they never happen again!

Meara....As one who has had to deliver those letters, I know how well you have captured the scene here.  It never changes...Ditto to all said by the others.  Thanks.  Hardrock

This was so sad.
Hope you are well!

I was born myself, raised myself, and will continue to be myself. The world will just have to adjust.

I hate your socks. I'd like to burn them!
