The Girl in Tatters The shattered door and window, Cold seeps in, Now just yesterday’s Shadow, Lost and too long forgotten, Cold crawls in, Abandon and forsaken, Dirty with cluttered webbing, She crawls in, Unsteadily her life ebbing From wounds of love gone bad, Blood seeping, Loosing all she’d ever had. Knowing she approaches end time, Blood seeping, Cold slowly numbing her mind. Mist to ice and now to snow Falling down, A hidden place few still know, Empty except for sorrow Falling down, Forgotten plans of morrow Past sorrow and now is more, Enter in, Life in flux both sides the door. Taken life faces the dying Enter in, To where in crimson lying, Almost in death on the floor Fallen down, Broken, Battered and more. If seen, unable to flee, Slow darkness, It’s the unknown that she sees, Approaching knife in hand, In darkness Above her, staring he stands. Her eyes were swollen, Black and blue, Hair matted with died blood too, Her clothes were just tatters, And her skin chilling fast, She might not last. He sheathed his blade And from his coat he made A pillow for her head, A torn shirt piece soaked from rain, A sponge for her face became, She was drifting from the sane. He held her close, His body warmed her some. Slowing death soon to come The Morning Light In the morning sun so bright, Now so clear, Cloudless blue left snowy white, Shallow breath and cooler brow, Holding near, She survived the night somehow, And in the growing brightness, Cold air swirls, Holding life with a lightness, In the lee of chilling wind, Swirling near, She finally looks at him, Who held her and saved her, From her death, She said “ thank you, oh kind sir.” She didn’t know him, She thought he was a friend, She slept once again. Waking next in a different place, Warmth and light, But without seeing his face. Who saved her? Girl Next day Pain, can you bare it, slowly; In your life, Death, can you hear it, softly. The doctors and nurses say, That her life, Was on the edge all the day; And her life, could have slipped softly away. Loss of blood, Broken ribs, And cuts too many to count. She’d surely have expired If not brought, She’d surely have expired. In the Dust In the dust, sadly sitting, In the dust, Fresh from another hitting, Purple eyes from the bruising, In the dust, Suffering the abusing, Breath shallow but still moves there, Stirring dust, Clinging to her bloody hair, Stitches broken once again Blood in dust, All her life is but a pain, Wholeness of everything now, In the dust, Returns to safety somehow Slipping to death’s calming grasp, In her dust, Will this next breath be the last? A favor in Dust He found her cold curled in death, In the dust Not stirring and without breath. T’was a big man with black hair, Boldly talking without concerning, Insulting others without a care, But in the shadows one is learning About a macho looser A hater and abuser. Late and drunken heading home Walking unsteady and was swerving Not realizing he was not alone, Till a sound made him turning, A knife deftly touched his heart In silent scream his lips did part, His ugly body began to sag, Then the head was in a bag. T’was not a silver platter in the dust It really didn’t matter ‘cause the glassy eyes were dead in the dust he laid the abusers head. Gloom |

Thank you, darkstar, Glad you enjoyed. Thank you, Jannel, This is sort of a story within a story, The main story is of the Contract Killer i.e. the man in that rescues her the first time. Glad you like this. Thank you, baerlon, I do tend to write stories into my poetry, And some time they get a bit wordy. My website has several that are too long, Perhaps you might wish to visit and read the Cell Series. Gloom |

Very dark and well written, reading off much like original poetry, where it was infact a story, written in smaller verses, in a time before novels were born. Enjoyed it very much. With the word, I am mighty, with the pen I am free.. dragonpoe |

enjoyed this Professor, although I don't care for dust all that much, and I know I would like it better if msn would work today ~Wynter "The worst prison would be a closed heart". ...Pope John Paul II |
