CONTINUANCE

Mortuaries are cold,
lonely places.
I hear they're supposed to be warm,
peaceful,
a place to be near the newly dead
one more time;
a place to share the love,
the life, the many wonderful
things they did and said,
and even a funny thing or two.
But mortuaries are cold, lonely places
where money talks,
and all else is in direct proportion
to it's words.

Cemeteries are just lonely places
that harbor earthly remains,
a place where we go to cry
and feel sorry for ourselves,
a place we go to hate ourselves
for the things we think we did
or didn't do,
things we wished we'd said,
or didn't say.

Life,
is the temple of the dead,
the place where we love them,
hate them, cry and miss their warmth,
their smiles and tears. Life is
where we say all the things
we never said,
apologize for our mistakes,
live with the memory of who
and what they were,
where we honor them
by living in a manner
that would make them proud.
Life is the temple of the dead;
it's in us
they continue to live.

Thanks RF and firecrakker, and DKW dropped off for awhile...many other things going on and haven't been writing at all. This and "I
Lost The Dream" on here now are first in a long time...hope they're not too bad...both
written for another soul.
