Board and missing you,
once the hammer, on-center
with head hitting the nail
now strikes and mars my surface
unsteady.

You,
the planer and sandpaper
smoothing the dent,
strips my defense
while leaving me
to weather the elements,
raising my grain indelicate.

Measured twice and cut once,
squared and level, I lie warped,
an irregular second and
disoriented.

We,
the board and missing.

very clever, and you must know some carpenters (not karen) to use the tools of the trade so well (words). very nice read.
