Hey Jesse, just thought this might lift your spirits a bit.

I met my desert rose one summer as the sun was going down
We felt the tremors of love shake us right to the edge of town,
We met between the shadows of the old whiskey soaked saloon
But the only way to keep her was to duel it out at noon.

So I stood out there on Main Street, out in the blistering sun
One hand on her heart, one hand near my gun.
Waiting for the preacher to clock the hand of noon
My finger was a’ itchin’, cause I knew I'd have her soon.

You see I’m just an outlaw ain’t never done no good,
But I told her I would change, and you know my word is good.
I ain’t never lost a gunfight and this would be the same,
Cause I’m the fastest slinger, and Jesse is my name.

I’m just a one woman man in a one horse town,
One hand on the trigger and one hand on her heart
Been traveling dusty trails, from valley to mountain top.
Runnin with my woman and you know we’ll never stop.

And the sun is setting slowly
Red horizons will fade to dawn
And when I wake up in the morning
You know we’ll both  be moving on.

Well that preacher was a' counting, just one second on the clock,
And that fellow was a’ sweatin, I was sure to get the drop,
Then there was a gunshot, some where from the side,
When it all was over, she had shot him between the eyes.

I didn’t know it at the moment, she did it all for me,
When they grabbed a rope to hang her, these words I heard her plea,
Jesse please forgive me, I did it all for you she cried,
That’s when my guns began a’ blazin’ and bullets began to fly.

A whistle and my stallion came busting out his stall
I swung her in the saddle, I was feelin kind of tall
We left that town a runnin’, bodies lying everywhere
Had her tucked behind me, and we’re now an outlaw pair.
