Attitude I grew up with big-finned cars, And lots of big-haired girls. And Beaver Clever’s mother, Cleaning floors while wearing pearls. When Dick Clark spun the records, And Little Richard did his bit. And every band had one guitar, And every record was a hit. When Elvis was first on TV, And censors found him crude. Before the days of discontent, Before the world turned rude. When there never was a "grunge band", And no one cursed and raved. And no one preached all day long, On how I must be "saved". When love was something that you shared, Not bought on the internet. And everyone had gardens, Instead of a Chia Pet. But we had wars, and now you don’t, So while others may sit and scoff. When I really think about those times, Today we’re better off. So while others sit and lament past times, And forget about the bad. I choose to enjoy right where I am, This is the best I’ve ever had. I have those memories to share with you, Before the world got rude, But I’d rather look forward to what comes next, It’s all about ATTITUDE!! |

Hardrock, I completely agree!!! So many people I know choose to live in their past, lament the present, and moan about the future.. As a somewhat annoying optimist.. Today is what counts, and what you choose to do with your future. Another great thinker! Crakker |

Geez, you persist in telling me I should stop lamenting the past, hm? I was just getting all nostalgic and then came the ending. Ha! Fooled me. This is great, words to live by, though not easy for all of us. So happy to read your poems again. S |
