Bleeding Magenta I’m crying behind my smile You don’t see the pain Because you don’t care enough to look I veil the hurt with easy words You weren’t listening anyway Of course I love you— It’s only myself I hate Shatter the mirror I can’t bring myself to look into I fear what I might find staring back Satisfying crunch As I smash the hated glass Silver backed shards crackle underfoot I smile as my reflection bleeds magenta **Disclaimer** This poem is not about self mutilation or suicide. It's merely about the satisfaction that comes from breaking the mirror and freeing the narrator from having to look at him/herself. |

Ouch, this one hit home. Great work. ![]() Ronil (The sweet sound of summer sends serenity through my soul searching for that evermore solitude.) |

Hey there Girlie! For a rare visit to the Dark forums, this one sits well. At first, I thought it might be about cutting, but the disclaimer helped me to see it's about changing what one sees in the mirror, by smashing the dang thing. Nothing changes how one looks like a fractured reflection. ![]() If I were any more laid back, I'd be in a coma. |

Xeonox, if this one hits home with you, you have my condolences. It's not a pleasant feeling. Alicat, thank you for seeing beyond what seems so obvious. Breaking the glass might change what you see, but it doesn't change what is there. Take me as I am or watch me as I go |

I on the other hand didn't need the disclaimer. I felt the pain, as I'm sure far too many have. A welcome, if painful, visit Tara. Chris |

Sven, thank you for understanding, both the pain and the satisfaction from releasing rage. Christopher, I was worried that it might be construed as violating the guidelines of the forum. I just wanted to make it clear so it wouldn't offend any readers. Thank you for the comment. Take me as I am or watch me as I go |
