i gave you my love

and you took it.
you set me free
like a bird in flight.
you stayed by my side
through the loneliest nights.

i gave you the choice
to love me, you could have
been with me forever.
you said you would!
but you lied.

when you left,
all the love died inside.

i spent my nights
at home, all alone
and i cried.

the person i once was
had died, i became bitter, and cold,
my heart had grown old.
i felt used and unloved.
i am a girl with no love,
because i gave it to you
and you took it and left,
with out giving anything in
return.

Love does suck, a lot of the time. It's too bad it can't be perfect all of the time. We throw our trust to someone so easily. All of us have been guilty of that. The problem is, you keep getting burned, you keep getting a little harder on the outside. This one talks to me. Thanks for writing what a lot of us have been through.
