ANGELS

Ah, what visions, solemn, pressed,
I've struggled with, to Dream's protest.
In like, all seem a queenly sort,
All likely seeming to retort
A grim and gray fall from forever
To some far less lofty endeavor,
In some shadowy, quaking spire,
Eyes aglow and souls on fire.

By timeless, lingering laughter,
Come one, come all, ever after
A touch of love - of life - of sin.
Sacrifice all to touch again!
Beyond all greater calls, impeding,
(Ivory halls and statues bleeding),
Human life with a white collar
For love of the almighty dollar.

Rent ambition, born of need,
In dire recount meets their greed,
Their lust, their self-catering trust,
Their idle visage of disgust!!
As all now heed a greater call,
As all who fly before me fall.
As all who give, all who've taken,
Bid me never again awaken!

Michael, though the theme is different, this almost sounds like a Byron or Shelley poem.
The feel of another century is in it. I love this one.
