Thanks to Eagle One for the challenge and the great lines orginally given to me as a poem called "Tempest." I decided instead to use the lines in seperate short poems. Thanks again Eagle. EagleOne's lines Cloud blackened sky shuts out the moonlight The chilling wind, cold as love's lost heart The rain soaks as seeping tears escape the eyes Face drained of Colour as hope ebbs from the soul Blinding light flashes realisation that all was lost As the deafening roar thunders through caverns of the mind ================== Tempest series of short poems. Betrayal The chilling wind, cold as love's lost heart frozen of any trace of compassion. Where did it all go wrong, with one fatal kiss I spat upon your icy lips. Naked I curled to embrace to be stabbed by your gaze. "Who was she?" is all you say, I can't remember. I did not take notice that day, skin on skin I just sunk deeper in, Once I lay with two soft brides. Now I am alone, there is nothing at my side. ----- Cry Babies The rain soaks as seeping tears escape the eyes The children cry in the cots, could almost steal Their breath upon the blanket, these strange creatures I vomited from within me, little leeches, drinking red my milk, deforming my body stretching it beyond repair. One turns to me, wide eyed watching innocently, a little cherub with a face so pure, slowly forms a smile I can almost hear it gurgle "momma," and I know a bond has been formed. ----- Lover Face drained of Colour as hope ebbs from the soul, another mouth feeds my lungs, soft and damp drowning my arid skin and ravaged nature. Eyes ignite in blinding dreams, Fuelling the frozen nerve, gently caressed into motion. There is a storm rising shelter me As the heavens cleanse us with desire. ----- Storm Spirit. Blinding light flashes realisation that all was lost As the deafening roar thunders through caverns of the mind lighting forks have struck the steel angels even the preacher cowers with the cows, The heavens bellow and erupt, I am standing naked In the torrent gazing into the eye of the storm. "God I am not afraid of your tempest, my spirit shall shelter me." ----- Night time Prayer. Cloud blackened sky shuts out the moonlight I had said my few words, god please spare me until day light. I know I have sinned and will again but my crimes I understand their reasoning and given the chance I would do them again. God I have given love to family and friends, been loyal and good to my fellow men, I have done my best I am just human. Thanks for listening Amen. Intense and wonderful they all are, Brian, I don't know which one to like best, so I'll just love them all. Young man, the vision of a moment made: dream of a dream, shadow of a shade! (which I think was uttered originally by Firdausi, but I may be wrong). But I babble... You have such a great talent there, that's what I was trying to say!!! Outstanding work Brian, you have taken an incoherent jumble of words and turned them into some excellent pieces. I envy your talent sir, well done! "The heart and soul have no illusion of boundries when friendship is the quest" ~ My Angel. |

of course all four of these are great...but think i liked the Prayer the most. (but then again, i found bits of the others too that were "catching") ~Dawn "Steady as it comes, right down to you, I've said it all, so maybe we're a Bliss of another kind" Bliss-Tori Amos |

Loved them all Brian! But perhaps Betrayal a little more than the others... thanks for the read! "A poem should not mean, but be" - Archibald MacLeish |
