I take what solace I may In the soft impersonal smoke That curls from my cigarette; In the warmth of the fire That spreads its glow in benediction About my chair; In the companionship of silence, Wherein my thoughts become the parents Of illusion, born of dream. In the sweet artistry of shadows, And the deep intensity of hope. From reflections on closed windows That lock the darkness out, And from reflections that are held Close within the heart. I treasure trivialities, And seek peace in remembrance Of greater things That once were mine. |

Marvellous, Rex, your poetry touches the core of one's heart.Things that were once one's own, don't they in some corner of one's heart still remain ones own forever? Abha |
