This is my first attempt at blank verse so be gentle if you can. Sometimes if you try, you can make yourself disappear. You can blend in and become invisible So that the audience only sees who you want them to see and not you And you can become unmemorable except as a character you play. Sometimes if you want, the words you say can mask almost anything You take solace in the world isolating you So that people all around hear the words of assurance and not the pain behind And if asked would say you are doing okay. Sometimes each day is laughing all on the outside and crying, dying on the inside. But the mask never cracks and the face is perfect. You can hold the world at bay, neither taking nor receiving anything, building a fortress around yourself. Sometimes if you must, you can fool yourself into believing you don't need contact That to touch opens you up to vulnerability So you seclude yourself and put on a brave front never showing what you're feeling And insanity, inhumanity, creeps up with stealth. Sometimes the whole thing is too much trouble. "It is the image in the mind that links us to lost treasures; but it is the loss that shapes the image, gathers the flowers weaves the garland."- |

Kethry, This is amazing! There is so much feeling there! If this is a first attempt, then I'm desperate for more! Lotharingia "Dreams are life, reality, creation" Miguel de Unanumo |
