Once you claimed you loved me as we sat 'neath Maple trees, you kissed my lips, caressed my hair found unfettered passion there as you brought me to my knees You promised that you'd need me till dried up were the seas then took my body and my soul drank of my enraptured whole and then, you took your ease But passion then grew faint from you you wouldn't hear my pleas my desire, not what you want your lust sated at the font beneath those autumn leaves Now my bitter heat is dying has sere and withered greaves joy is gone, there's only pain release me now to love again for I'm dying by degrees. "It is the image in the mind that links us to lost treasures; but it is the loss that shapes the image, gathers the flowers weaves the garland."- |

Lynne.....this is a beauty! Excellent rhyme and meter. Enjoyed very much. Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility. -William Wordsworth- |
