Oh my father, my light, my life. You hid all my foolishness in a well deep inside. Always there through the trouble and strife. Never judging my mistakes, or damning my pride Never condemning you always-stood firm. When I grew up you shed a few tears Hoping that soon all the lessons I'd learn. Hoping I wouldn't grow into your fears. But I did... and I'm sorry For reckless nights, tainted days For all the times, I made you worry For the seasons by reason, I fled from your ways. For all the birthdays I did not 'phone, For the times of great crisis when you wept for my life and all celebrations that you spent alone. For the hidden secrets, that cut like a knife. For the ways that I hurt you, intent and unknown, for my life that I've lived and the seeds that I've sown. For the grief you've been given is now back to me Is it too late for sorry, when your eyes do not see? I'm sorry I hurt you too often to tell. I'm sorry my father. I love you. Sleep well. |

Kethry, I guess we always regret one thing we did not do when someone is gone. This was a very heartfelt and touching poem, and I am sure your father knows you loved him. cat... |

Beautiful and tender. Nicely done! Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility. -William Wordsworth- |
