You, who have offered solace, and have lent To life its many gracious moments, spent In retrospect and dreams, have passed From full effulgence to a shell at last. No ambrosial amber wafts its steam To build a smoken ladder for a wayward dream, Nor spans the turbulent abyss that yawns 'Neath weary eyes through endless waking dawns. Close in trembling and impotent hands I hold Your fragile strength, and feel the bitter cold Of that embrace. Bereft I stand, my heart Beating in dull, slow measure as we part. And so...some vaulted chamber now must be Your hallowed sanctuary...and my memory! |

as the owner of an espresso bar and a caffeine addict I can relate totally, and as a poet I am impressed by the wonderful(ness) of the words you wrote ~Heather |
