Crawling along the muddy ground, we shivvered in cold and in fear. We longed for things familiar and for things of this realm. But all we could see were torn and mangled bodies and one shattered elm. The rain fell, suffocating us. It was Heaven's Tear, Mourning all mankind's pride and all his sin. We crawled in the mud, as shells fell all around. Flesh and mud, in one mass of ectatic terror, became one. But already the mortars were dropping and shattering each bone. The cries and wails came, from a parallel world of suffering, and seeped into the ground. We heard now, the gas shells falling all around. But we did not see the green until it was too late. Of all the horrors in this world, nothing compares to the sound, Of lungs being eaten up and spewed up into a bloodied mound, Upon the ground covered in mud. But still, in an eternity of war, this ground would feel still others' blood. We are the hollow men We are the stuffed men Leaning together Headpiece filled with straw. Alas! |

Intense, horrible story, great work of writing. You have a very direct yet poetic way of saying something (many things) about society. I think it is commendable that you are doing this. Some things should be pointed out. Thanks Catalinamoon |
