The land once filled with life and creativity
Is now filled with man's design and
Government's imposed ideals.

We never could learn to love people for who they were.

We've erected huge monumental buildings to
Hide this, but still could not escape it.
But now we've found the ultimate weapon.

I sit now, remembering a world long forgotten.
I am perseculted for being engineered by God.

While others travel on to oblivion,
I stop and weep.  I will never get through to
Those who have become the essence of conformity.

Mankind has just taken control of his own evolution.

Silently, I listen to the reports of unforseen problems.
The superhuman sobs trickle into the steel heart of government.
"We regret to inform you", the cold voice says.
"Your son, miracle of our endeavors,"
It begins in its usual mechanical way,
"Has been used as any superhuman should,
And has died.  He fought bravely."

And so he and all the others did.

And thus, we continue on the road to the perfect child.
Perfect in the eyes of the unperfect.
Master of his own evolution,
Perversion of our own destiny.

Superhuman sobs trickle into the steel heart of government.
Perversion of our own destiny.
Fractal I like this very, very much.
Be well

This is one of those poems I wish I had written. Genetics is one of the sciences that really scares me, becase of the many ways it could be abused. The warning your poem presents should be taken seriously.
Besides the message, I also enjoyed the descriptive words you wrote. Very well done!

Thank you all for the compliments on this one.  Although very little of what I've written in this poem has actually come about, I still felt the need to write about it.

A lot of scientists and experts are describing genetics like it's a cure all for anything that society doesn't like, or doesn't want to face.  For example, genetics is able to get rid of obesity.

I'm not saying that obesity is something that is good, but that it is not wise to tamper with what God has created.  For any readers who do not believe in God, it is not wise to tamper with the complexities of nature.

Again, thanks for the compliments.

God bless.
