This poem is not about me. It's about a woman I'm working with who is experiencing serious DV, so don't worry for me folks. I am a Barbie See my plastic smile You can do most anything And I'm here a while. Put my legs above my head I will never pout If you choose to hit me I'll not scream or shout Watch me keep my figure Sometimes it's a trial I have to starve and vomit To keep you for a while In the early morning I'm awake you'll see You'll never see me haggard I'm groomed perfectly I am a Barbie See my plastic smile Plastic, teeth, plastic heart No feelings for a mile. Kethry... This has a very powerful and true to life message. It's just too bad that our society still expects women to feel like this! Image means more these days than the person inside the image.
