This poem is not about me. It's about a woman I'm working with who is experiencing serious DV, so don't worry for me folks.

I am a Barbie
See my plastic smile
You can do most anything
And I'm here a while.

Put my legs above my head
I will never pout
If you choose to hit me
I'll not scream or shout

Watch me keep my figure
Sometimes it's a trial
I have to starve and vomit
To keep you for a while

In the early morning
I'm awake you'll see
You'll never see me haggard
I'm groomed perfectly

I am a Barbie
See my plastic smile
Plastic, teeth, plastic heart
No feelings for a mile.

I am a plastic Barbie
My life may seem inane
But to keep appearances
I'll quietly go insane.

Wow, that is a great poem, I knew it would be.  I hope the poor woman gets out of that situation soon.

Too many women like this I'm afraid. Nurtured by our appearance-obsessed society.
Great poem once more!

Wow! Reminds Me of someone I used to know all too well. Fortunately, she lifted herself up, and with the help of friends, began a confident and happy new life. I wish the same for ths woman. Really touching! Great poem!
Take Care,

I'm not really sure who's Barbie...
But I like it, it's a rare subject, original.
Take care!

Kethry...
This has a very powerful and
true to life message. It's just
too bad that our society still
expects women to feel like this!
Image means more these days than
       the person inside the image.
          Thank you for writing this...
            You did it well!!!< !signature-->
