"Can I fly with you mummy, can I fly," Says my three-year-old as she launches herself, from the bench into my arms. Together we spin around and around, Her arms and legs outstretched to capture every errant breeze and eddy of the wind that rushes past. Until finally we spiral dizzyingly downward to tumble helplessly Giggling and breathless until we touch the ground once more. But I am not like my child I approach this precipice of love, with fear and trepidation. I want to fly with you. I want to soar above and view the clouds from a different perspective. I want to feel the wind coruscating against my skin. I want to watch the shimmering shadows diminish and become nothing as we fall to earth together, giggling and breathless. But I am afraid. I stand poised to launch myself into your arms And yet something holds me back I have been burned before. I am afraid. I have felt the heights of love before and I have known the desolation of the cold, empty, bitter wind when it was over. Oh to have the trust and belief of a three year old. Confident your love will hold me up, sustain me, never allow me to fall solitary into the depths of darkness, to believe again that there is one worthy of my trust, my belief, my loyalty and my love. So I stand here and ask in all sincerity With the deep longings of my heart exposed and now clear. "Can I fly with you? Can I fly?" ... Here I come ready or not. i say jump..im certain you'll be caught in those arms and he will fly with you....but if he doesnt...at least for one moment in time..you fly free and uninhibited..your soul will keep you aloft! beautiful poem!! ~Dawn whatcha doing in this darkness baby when you know love will set you free? will you stay in the sea forever Drowning there for all eternity? ~Live |

Kethry, A child is a lovely reminder of the trust, and fearless approach to life...I love the way you compared how you feel, and your want for the same. This was another really great poem!! I would have voted on this one!!! The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose...--Hada Bejar |
