Who cares that this heart beats Through unremitting Time, and knows No peace...who cares That hidden embers burn unquenched, Where only leaden ashes seem to lie, And flare in secret conflagration Until the soul itself is reddened By their glow... Or that imprisoned tears Have welled to boundless seas, Unfathomable as the pride That dams their turbid flow. Who cares that unclosed eyes Be shut to all save dreams That knew no unredemption once, Of promise or of praise, Or that bitterness be folded close In draping mists to hide A bleeding wound. Who cares that dawns and dusks, And stars and moons, And ebbs and tides and years, Are merely hopes that come and go... While I live on...forever! |

Nicely done Rex. Very dark indeed. This is the first dark piece of yours I have had the pleasure of reading (that I can recall anyway...lol). I hope to see more.  (hmmm not that I hope you have too many dark moods my friend.  ) |
