Flight A night-bird darts in silhouette Against the glowing sky, Straight toward the fading sun...and oh! I would that bird were I! ****************************** Sleep Sleep...that transmutes dross to gold, And makes of pallid hope, a silvered dream! ******************************* Night As a muted troubadour at rest, Night, in black-caped silence, broods. ******************************* Changing The flutter of a moth's wing Turns Silence into Sound. ******************************* Solitude Solitude, That which pampers Grief. ******************************* Stars Stars, like a spangled scarf blown high Across the raven draperies of the sky, Adorn celestial Night. ******************************** Sisters Regret and Hope... Sisters of Yesterday and Tomorrow! ********************************* Wisteria Wisteria shadows, Playthings of a yellow moon. ********************************** Remnants Why do Yesterdays remain and Todays Pass by...unnoticed? |

Rex, I am starting to think I should just keep my poems to myself, yours are so superior. You put the professional touch in everything you do. This is extraordinary. I especially like sisters, and remnants. Oh, never mind that, I like all of them. Just amazing as always. PS what was it like to know Ricky Nelson?? Sandra |

Sandra...thanks so much for the very nice comment. I really appreciate it. Please don't keep any poems to yourself, you write lovely poetry! Ricky was a very nice guy, although his friends did not call him Ricky---he hated that name. We called him Rick. His real name was Eric. He was, in real life, about the same as he appeared to be on the Ozzie & Harriet show ( I doubt you are old enough to have seen it though). We were best friends in high school (Hollywood High) and buddied around quite a bit until I went into the Air Force. We used to roam around Hollywood Boulevard and slip over to Stan's drive-in (diagonally across from school) for burgers and fries. Occasionaly he would sit up in the back of my '41 Ford convertible and sing a little bit. The other kids would sometimes throw burger scraps and fries at him (kidding around) and I would get irritated because it messed up my car! I was greatly saddened to learn of his death. I liked Rick a lot. I used to see him also at the Palomino club in Van Nuys with his Stone Canyon band. Regards, Rex |

Rex..I really appreciate you placing all these writings here. I feel guilty at times because, having your book, I know what is coming before the rest of the people in DP. Please...write again. It would mean so much to me. Hardrock |
