Buried in The Wall It’s strange, I sit here every day, And cry my tears of shame. While pen in hand, and rubbing paper, They search through every name. I see them come, one by one, And face the granite wall. Fifty-Eight thousand names listed there, I feel I know them all. You may have seen me sitting there, Through wind and rain and snow. But I can’t leave here, and besides, I’ve nowhere else to go. I have no home, nor wife and kids, My home is Veteran’s Mall. I can’t leave my buddies, Whose names are on The Wall In your eyes, I see the love, You say you want to share. But I can’t give back the love you give, My love is buried there. I know you want to rescue me, And lead me from the dark. But you don’t know what’s in my soul, What brings me to this park. It’s all the names upon The Wall, For each I say a prayer. I might have saved a few of them, But… I wasn’t there. I wasn’t there when their blood flowed, When they gave their all. So what love there was inside of me, Is now buried in The Wall. You just have a way with people's emotion. I wondered why did you not get a 100 post for this comment you know? Simply awesome. Ronil (What I say I live by and what I live by is what I create). |

wonderful. The poem is as stolid, meaningful, and as full of sorrow as The Wall is. |

Another poignant beauty Marvin...just fabulous! Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility. -William Wordsworth- |

Such a tragedy for so many to lose their lives...many at such a young age...and you have relayed the message well for them...as they cannot speak for themselves...and well for yourself and I share your sorrow...James |

if my grandfathers had been poets, dear marv, they would have read this and said "this is my heart, little one." this is just excellent, marv. you should send it to the WWII memorial campaign going on right now!! i am serious. they need to see that people truly think about these things... that it has affected more than they think. love ya. kynder Sunshine can not bleach The snow, Nor time unmake what Poets know. The sympathy that is aroused by this poem, blows my mind!! I simply want to help this fellow, help him mend, help convince him he couldn't save them all, help him start his life again. Like my Grandfather, they found it so hard to speak of their pain, confusion and anguish, you portrayed it perfectly in my opinion. Bravo!!! ![]() I'll tell you this......
