Escaping the Pain..so easy to do. |

I look back now and I am stunned at how clever I was on matters of escaping pain. Anything to make me not feel would work just fine for me. So many times I felt so light like a feather floating in a dark tunnel a downward spiral towards numbness…. I didn’t have to feel. Never good… always bad. I have held the hand of death more than only once, I have danced with the Devil underneath many moonless nights. One day I stopped running I was tired. I started to allow my body to accept the pain for I was too weary to fight it anymore. I learned that just like happiness and misery, anger and regret, pain is just another feeling that comes and goes. When I feel weak I repeat "This too shall pass." You can never have too much fiction; reality can be such a bore |

Such an affirmation. Fortunately you learned that the pain will not go away until it is dealt with...so many sad souls haven't recognized this fact. More power to you. And, yes, this too shall pass. Linda |

I understand completely, and yes, it does pass, although you would swear it never will. Nice poem. Take care. Catalinamoon |

A very startling poem! Simply directly true. And thank you for placing in words my recent thoughts on this temporal place filled with much waxing & waning* Chere |

Dearest Beth; Your poem is filled with wisdom and truth, and written so eloquently. None of us escapes the pain, it's how we deal with it, that decides our fate. Love, Mom Summers haunting melody that awakens the butterflies, calling them to join the dance in their silent song of praise to God. eL |

Wow Beth, beautifully written piece. I was one of those who built those walls, and until I decided to "stop running" nothing changed, but once they were gone, after I finally let go, and once I learned how to feel again ....well, now life is good!!! Wonderful poem. Bonnie |

How true your words are. Once we can learn to deal with the pain and release it the sooner we can move on. Glad you are moving on and not running anymore. -------------- You got to get up every morning with a smile on your face and show the world all the love in your heart Then people are gonna treat you better You're gonna find, yes you will That your beautiful as you feel.~~~ Carol King |

Wonderful! I applaud your stength. It's almost always easier to run than to stand. Like this! Great message, good delivery! Christopher [This message has been edited by Christopher (edited 07-28-2000).] |

Beth, A raw honest poem, a sad but triumphant journey back to life! We are so much more alive once we realize how much dead we have been. Well written poem! Dennis :^) Moonbeams radiate When the veiling cloud has past Playful shadows dance Dennis L. White :^) |

Some very impressive work! Yes, it is important to remember that anything you are going thru will soon pass. You can probably even learn something from your situation...
