She rode an Arabian stallion Out of the morning mist The darkness of her hair Matched the mane held in her fist Clad in softest leather garb Her skin of deepest tan The goal for this immortal one Was to find a mortal man Her clan of immortal sisters Would die out without this deed So riding now, Ravenna sought A man for his mortal seed. Each village she approached Seemed void of virile men Haggard women stared at her With looks beyond her ken Farther from her clan she rode Until she reached the sea There upon the horizon was The answer to this mystery Four majestic ships lay cradled In the azure waves off shore Sunk low upon the ocean Weighed down by the cargo they bore A boat filled with captive men Being hoisted onto the craft Pushed and prodded onto the deck Tied together fore and aft. The need for mortal seed was great One man was all she required The rest would be a burden Until a child could be sired She strapped her silver dagger To a pouch within her vest Then jumped into the water Swimming quickly to the west She climbed the anchor chain As quietly as she could And slipped onto the deck Where the night sentry stood With a swoop of her wrist The sentry’s neck was slashed Then she hurried to the hold Where the village men were lashed In the darkened space she sought A man who would quicken her blood She scanned the room until she saw A tall and virile stud With stealth she untied his legs And bid him follow her out Quickly he obeyed wondering What this girl was about. On the moonlit deck again She cut the ropes from his wrists Then led him into the ocean And swam away into the mists As they reached the sandy shore Ravenna called her stallion forth Bade the mortal to mount her horse And rode off to the north. The mortal man rode pillion Arms clasped around her waist His breath hot upon her cheek She squirmed in his embrace. The trip to the immortal camp Lasted only a day and night Ravenna wished her captive Would at least have put up a fight He seemed to sense his destiny As father to an immortal child But as he rode, he fondled her Driving Ravenna wild The leader of the clan Took the captive to her cave Until it was decided Which member he would have Ravenna paced all that night Her passion’s blood inflamed The village stud had quickened her And needed to be tamed. Morning dawned fair and mild The leader drew the clan near And said the mortal man agreed To bed an immortal here Ravenna wished she would not Be chosen to bed the man For after seeding immortal wench He met death by immortal hand Ravenna mounted her stallion And quickly rode away She chose not to be the one To bed the man this day Two days passed as she rode To banish him from her mind And when she returned to the clan His death had been consigned. |

by bed did you mean kill? i'm not quite sure i'm able to understand this correctly. it was written very well i'm just not really sure about all the details. it gave me a picture but it wasn't too clear to me. i'm sure many people will understand but my poetry mind still has much to learn. nice work! |

Thank you for your reply. By 'bed' I mean just that..but in my Immortal Women series, they have to mate with a mortal man, then kill him if they can. |

PDV....Great! Just absolutely great. Really enjoy the story and love the style. Many kudos!!! Poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings: it takes its origin from emotion recollected in tranquility. -William Wordsworth- |

Ok Sharon... How do you do it? You manage to even put your strength and heart into a piece such as this... Amazing lady, a tale worth telling, and you've told it exceedingly well! |
