Watching You Sleep (for my son) |

Watching You Sleep I hear you breathing even and slow Slumber, so peaceful, becomes you. A slight turn, a sigh escapes your lips. Fluttering eyelids, revealing a touch of blue. A stray strand of hair across your brow. You look so charming and sweet. Remembrances mayhaps that cause You to swim deeper into your dreams. Eighteen now, you're still just my li'l man. I remember the day I brought you home. Swaddled in receiving-blanket blue You were a love I could call my own. You've grown up straight and tall A man in body but my li'l boy in my eyes. You've turned out loving and caring Somewhat lazy, I guess part of your guise. You have a sense of humour so funny A laugh that floats easy on a breeze. When angered, your blue eyes get so stormy. But clouds disappear with willingness to please. So eighteen years later I still watch you sleep Wondering where your life will take you. I hope the sweetness that is in your soul, And the love in your heart remains strong and true. I thought this was a very touching and beautiful poem. I love to read poems that people have writen for their children. I'm new at this so if I didn't fill something out right, please forgive me.I just started this last night. I'm not quite sure what the message icons are for. Sorry ( LITL, Heather Anne Miller/Gambler |

Shawna this is so tender and sweet! I hope you've treasured this away, or given it to him to keep. They are angels when they sleep aren't they? |

WC - This is so loving, I suppose that as long as there is breath left in us, while we watch them sleep they will still be our "babies"....Beautiful poem. Bonnie |
