When And Where Again As I sit here on the shore and watch the waves roll in It brings back the memories of when and where again I can see your deep blue eyes upon the cresent moon and all I can think about is that sunlit afternoon Back when we were only kids who thought we knew it all Always running head on in life Never afraid to take a fall I can't believe just how naive we really were back then Thinking we could conquer the world when we were merely men We failed to see all the stop signs life threw up along the way 'Til you were abruptly taken from me on that fateful day I would that I could make a wish and bring you back my friend As I sit here thinking of a time of when and where again ******************************* In loving memory of Robert Christopher Beaver 02/18/70-06/24/92 I shall never forget you my friend. Ron, I'd like to ask if this poem makes it into the book could you please leave the memorial statement? It would mean the world to me. Thanks. It always helps me to remember that while we wish they were still with us, they would rather remain in heaven. Jamie Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito. - Virgil. "Yield thou not to adversity, but press on the more bravely". |

Jeffrey, I remember reading this in open, and it touched me as deeply now as it did before. I hope my vote helps this worthy poem get published. "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde "The robbed that smiles steals something from the thief" -Shakespea |

Jeffrey, Awesome poem. I know it was not an easy one for you my friend. So glad to see you submit it for the book. Got my vote!! LW Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |

I am there with you Jeffrey, in more ways than you know. My Heart goes out to you and my longing and dreams coincide. I was talking to someone last night at a place that I don't frequent much and saw this one fellow I hadn't seen for a while. He said he went through a break-up, I wouldn't have imagined judging by his careless demeanor (I could think of some other adjectives I could use, but they wouldn't be nice at all), that here it was just one week ! Well, there I was honouring an anniversary (3rd) in regards to the One who owns my Heart, but without my Love. Well, to make this short, he tells me to "outen my torch" and snap out of it.Well, I let him have it. I told him to tell that to all the ones who made the Viet Nam memorial and the ones who Remember their Lost Loves, and to the ones who make and visit the Quilts at the Quilt exhibitions. He shut up quick and I am sure he will go on his way in his life never really feeling or deeply sharing anything. I'm with you Jeff, and my Heart too...is a Memorial, A place where my Love still Lives.Without a doubt, I voted for you. Peace my friend, Geoffrey |

Tracie, I thank you much m'friend Geoffrey, I'm sorry to hear that you know of this pain. I have often said that if I was to be given one wish I would wish that no one ever know this feeling. If you don't already know the story behind this poem... It is a tribute to my best friend who died in a car crash. I was the driver and walked away without a scratch. It took me 8 years to get over the feeling of guilt and then only after visiting his grave for the first time since the funeral. I was kneeling there crying when I felt an awesome feeling of peace come over me. I knew at once that he didn't blame me for what happened. I knew that he never had. Anyway, this was written as a tribute and reminder to me and anyone who has ever lost a friend that even though they are gone they will never be forgotten. Peace to you as well my friend |
