An old'un from my new hampshire days.

Mike

-through a cracked pane-
I look through a cracked pane and see blurred color.
The trees are no longer wood
But large stout strokes of brown
Swimming in jagged detail against spider cracks.
The air is a combination of yellow and green
Mixed to a blue that changes continually,
Where clouds float through the sea of it,
And dip at the junction of broken glass.
White fields spotted with brown and green trees
And sunlight and frozen-over
Lakes and ponds and stopped brooks
Try to orient themselves in the fracture.

Hi bsquirrel,

You described it so wonderfully, your cracked pane of glass, enjoyed it very much, thank you for sharing.

Foundations that lasted the ages Then ripped apart at their roots"

You rock with the images in this one.

Thanks to both of you.   (this is turning into a real yellow-face convention, isn't it?)

It was as though the "outside" (of your windowpane) turned into a Monet...the way you described the softness and shadings of colour and the blurring of the tree's trunks...very nicely painted, Mike.

Thanks, all. It's a good thing I checked back on these old threads -- I appreciate your keeping them alive for me.   May everyone who submitted at least get one poem into the book.
