Bridget

She sits cross legged,
Silent as a statue.
A soft stone face,
Calmer than a millpond.

Wind buffets her body,
And races through the grass.
Her hair twists and tangles.
She does not notice.

She’s cried all her tears,
But the pain is not gone,
Unlike the people,
Whom she thought were her friends.

They used her like a puppet,
Toying with her heart strings,
Then stamping out her smile.

She said she didn’t care,
That she didn’t really need them.
Although her heart was weeping,
From broken promises,
And trust betrayed.

And as they laughed at her and taunted,
She knew that it would pass...
She was Bridget,
And always would be.

This does quite well describe me all too often!! I so often feel this way!! I know this isn't about me, but this is a very good poem!!

YL,
I loved the opening stanzas. I thought the part near the end kinda crashed a little too suddenly with the beauty of the beginning, but maybe that's just me.   A worthy addition to the book, either way.

thank you Bridgette, Marge and Mike..
This was a repost from the Corner Pub, so i could submit it for the book. ^_^

Bridgette.. ^^ yeah, this poem isn't actually about someone I know.. I am glad u like it! ^_^ (Love your name.. *_^)

Marge.. thanx, well I am glad u liked it, too.. ^_^

Mike.. hehe, the name Bridget means strength.. strong.. so the last stanza says she is strong.. yeah it kinda is abrupt, but that is the intended effect, as what happened to her WAS abrupt.. she had no warning, and it felt unfinished to her.. so, perhaps warrants a 'not so beautiful' ending, in a slightly different style from the beginning, as her friendships ended in such a way. ^_^ thanx 4 your observation, u r so right. ^_^

hey Yu,
stirs at a deep level.
such is life..., eh?
much sorrow and intensity left
after one has run out of tears...
and yet in the end, one cuts it off
and gets on with it...
good read,
