                    Waking early,
                    to morning's gray.
                    steely clouds,
                    threaten this day.

                    Birdsong lilting,
                    in swaying trees.
                    Rustled by fingers,
                    of burgeoning breeze.

                    Sit here quietly,
                    watching dawn's ebb.
                    Through silvery lace,
                    of black spider's web.

                    I rouse from my trance,
                    and rise to my feet.
                    Morning's reverie,
                    short, but oh so sweet.

Yesterday is ash, tomorrow is smoke; only today does the fire burn.

Mornings Reverie...my favourite time of day.
In fact that's the very subject of my first poem ever posted (Sunrise Kisses).
Great poem.
It must be from Linda M.

Hehehehe, I post this poem because it is pleasant, warm, etc. and it fades into obscurity.  I post one about the gritty reality of a tortured life and people respond resoundingly....

I guess my dark work is better than my light work... I'll stick to what I do best then.

Ah Sunshine... you truly are kin to your name; a ray of golden joy in this man's life....

That was a great poem!  Wonderful images.

I like this, JP... but i sure hope you post some of your poems in this Voices forum   "about the gritty reality of a tortured life and people"... TOO!!!.... which is what a great deal of great poetry deals with, y'know?... and you've got a knack for it...

This one's wonderfully lyrical... enjoyed it very much!

JP (be careful with that name! it makes me think Jurassic Park!   ), I loved this poem, and I've worked a few black spiderwebs through my mind, fighting through them, in the morning. Thanks for the cool poem.

i tend to agree with Traci's little marking schedule here.. though short, it expresses this peaceful feeling concisely and exactly. Great, I will, in addition, give a tick on your vote..

Oh yeah. Mornings always bring new hope. Enjoyed much.
